Finding Out I Was Pregnant

Joe and I got married on Sept 1, 2019. Which was also the day I was supposed to get my period. I had gotten off my birth control in July for personal reasons, so my period wasn’t quite on track yet. Thinking the wedding added stress to my body, and not being regular yet it might just come a few days late so I didn’t sweat it. N E V E R did it cross my mind I might be pregnant. We left for our honeymoon to Jamaica, that was already a disaster because we had rescheduled our honeymoon 3 times, (which my superstitious self should have just realized it was a sign we shouldn’t go anywhere). In Jamaica it is so hot, we are drinking, having a good time but I really didn’t feel right at all. I was sweating no matter what, I was SO tired, all I wanted to do was sit in the room and sleep. 3 days had gone by and I had been so sick. I was puking every morning, which I thought was just from drinking too much, and I thought I wasn’t feeling too well because it was god awful hot. I couldn’t eat anything without gagging, I was cramping when we would walk places. I was literally miserable. Then as I’m laying in bed Joe reminds me, “um did you get your period yet?” Me responds, oh my god I’m totally pregnant. From that point forward I just knew it. Dr. Google then confirmed all my symptoms, and I basically wanted to hop on a plane and come home right then, because YOU TRY finding a pregnancy test in Jamaica at a resort! I had stopped drinking at this point, one because I couldn’t stand the taste of the alcohol (which was also a super sign I was definitely pregnant) and two, just to be safe in case I was I had done my fair share of partying leading up the wedding and at the wedding I should probably chill out if I am pregnant. This is terrible, but FINALLY the honeymoon was over and we were going HOME so I could find a pregnancy test. We got home in the early morning and I had work the next day but Joe didn’t, so he went in the morning bought a pregnancy test and I came home on my lunch from work and took the test. I took it alone, didn’t even have to pee, and was seriously thinking there is no way I’m pregnant. Literally in 5 seconds that test was screaming “pregnant.” I sat for a minute and then went to tell joe, and said “yep I’m pregnant.” We both sat in shock, I don’t handle surprises well, so I needed time to process still and just told Joe I needed to go back to work now! So I went back to work, called my sister, called my best friend, and started crying. Joe and I went to the women’s care center that night and found out I was in fact 6 weeks pregnant! WOAH!
We were not planning this. We had literally gotten married 10 days earlier. But I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason, and after the initial shock, we were SO excited. We wanted to tell everyone, and share this experience with everyone around us.
