Wedding planning 5 months left
We have 5 months to go before we say I do! This is an exciting time for all of us involved. Orders are coming in, events are being planned, last minute decisions are being made, and everyone’s running around like crazy as the planning has picked up again! We got a small break February-March, but now we’re back in full swing!
My dress came in 3 months early! Most would say “oh yay!” My reaction was.....but I haven’t met my fitness goals yet. We finally picked the dress up last weekend, and have figured out who we want for alterations! We went and picked out shoes that day too. I couldn’t decide on just one pair, so my grandma said “hey lets get both!” Bless that woman.
We have another round of engagement photos next weekend with our puppers! Thank you Liv Vincent Photography for giving us a mini shoot for our family! I absolutely love the pictures we got from our first session, it was literally negative degrees, but you can’t even tell how cold we were there was so much love around!
My bridal shower is being planned by my future mother in law and we sent out invites, and are getting together the last details of what all is going to be there. So along with the wedding planning there is bridal shower planning too!
My bachelorette party has been finalized and I will be spending the weekend in Chicago with 5 of my BEST friends. This weekend is going to be so fun! There’s so much to do in Chicago I can’t even pick things that I MUST do! Besides the sugar factory, I really want to go to the sugar factory. But everything else I’m leaving up to my Maid of Honor! The weekend is going to be a blast and I’m so looking forward to getting away with my girls for a few days!
Creating invites! I’m thinking sending invites at the end of May will give plenty of time for the RSVP! Our wedding is September 1st, so 3ish months in advanced. There’s so much to decide with invites. Do we want a formal invite? Do we want a fun invite? Do we want to include our engagement pictures? What do we want it to say? I have NO idea where to even begin with the invites! I’ve played around on Shutterfly, but nothing sticks yet! There’s still time for this, plenty of time!
Then, the wedding. We have almost all the little details figured out. We just recently started working on the cake, and my caterer sends me about 10 different flavors to pick 4 from....I think it would just be easier to have a 10 tier cake than pick from these flavors! They all sound so delicious. I want all of them! Joe picked his two favorites, now I have to pick my two favorite! We also still need to decide on a florist. I only know I want daisies at my wedding, my favorite flower! But other than that I really have no where to even begin with flowers! I’ve never been a real flower type of girl- but I must make decisions! And soon! We just happened to pick the busiest month in wedding season to also get married with everyone else so people are booking FAST.
If I’ve learned one thing from planning this wedding, you can’t let people forget its YOUR wedding, NOT theirs! People have a lot of opinions, and attitudes to throw around, but being the bride (or groom) you really just have to brush it off. This is (hopefully) the ONLY wedding you will get, so make it the best and to your own standard! It’s hard but sometimes you have to put people in their place, especially for an event like this!
Another thing I’ve learned about wedding planning is you find out who is really your friend, and there for you. A lot of people start to back up...oh you’re getting married...as if that’ll change the person that I am! Especially in my situation where I’ve known my fiancé going on 4 years now! People think once you get married you can’t have fun anymore. Well that’s a lie! Getting married has been the MOST fun in my life thus far. A lot of people also turn their cheek because they don’t agree with what you’re doing at your own wedding, well unfortunately it’s my wedding! Sorry!
If I have any advice for future soon to be’s, it would: be don’t freak out about it. It’ll be JUST fine. Sure you want everything absolutely perfect, but if something is out of budget, or just isn’t a necessity- it’s really not worth getting flustered about. Your purpose for the wedding is to marry your soul mate! That is what is perfect about this day!
I hope if you’re planning a wedding everything is going so smoothly and you are just as excited as I am about marrying my fiancé! It’s so crazy to me my fiancé and I met at 17 & 18 and now we’re getting married! Take everything in, and enjoy yourself. Being stressed out about stuff, and things not going right is beyond typical for any wedding. Just enjoy the time you have to plan this, it only happens once!
